Financial Controller

We supply our award-winning trays and storage systems directly to education furniture manufacturers, equipment distributors, and international schools all over the world and are seeking to appoint a Financial Controller.

The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring the Company’s financial controls and procedures are maintained and providing proposals for improvement or change, requiring a thorough understanding of manufacturing operations and a broad working knowledge and hands-on experience of SAP.

If you hold the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with substantial post qualification experience, currently holding a senior finance position preferably in a manufacturing SME exporting globally.
  • Robust experience of assisting and advising the MD and Board on strategy and commercial decision making.
  • Demonstrable expertise in SAP business software and Excel
  • Full responsibility for financial and management reporting of parent company and subsidiaries,
  • Strong track record of accurately budgeting and forecasting, advising senior budget holders
  • In depth experience of SAP Systems operations/development and establishing effective working procedures
  • Year-End preparation and liaising with auditors
  • Senior level experience leading and motivating a small finance team within an SME manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrable experience of both management and statutory reporting
  • Proven commercial acumen in negotiating with suppliers
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with a diverse workload with multiple/competing priorities.
  • Managing foreign currency risk


To achieve these key result areas:

  • Responsible for set up of new SAP business software to go live 1st April 2019.  Ongoing development of SAP and financial systems and processes to ensure they will support a growing and diversifying business;
  • Production of monthly management reports, analysis and forecasts with full explanation of variances to deadlines - participating in and feeding back to the management teams in their monthly meetings;
  • Managing and expanding banking relationships;
  • Managing and arranging all debt requirements and facility renewals;
  • Set up process for continuous review of all processes, costs and controls, maintain and monitor accuracy;
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts and returns accurately to deadlines;
  • Production and update of budgets accurately to deadlines;
  • Maintaining accurate cash flow projections and working capital forecasts to deadlines;
  • Liaison with and build strong relationships with auditors and other external advisors;
  • Supporting commercial, investment and strategic decisions;
  • Maintain the accounting system in order that all accounts are controlled and reconciled to deadlines;
  • Analysis of potential acquisitions, and other financial and legal project work.
