11.04.17 Makerspace update
Gratnells would like to thank everyone who commented on our plans to promote the importance of making things as part of our children’s education.
Gratnells has a long history of working with schools and teachers to create the best environment for teaching and in particular storage and organisation and developing products to improve the educational environment. Gratnells supports all the many different educational communities from design and technology, science, computer coding and making in general.
Gratnells plans to introduce a new range of education storage trolleys to maximise the efficiency of making things using the name Makerspace but had no intention of restricting the use of the term generally. To this end we applied for the EU Trademark and duly waited three months to see if there was any objection. There was none.
In light of the recent reaction, Gratnells wants to assure everyone that it will ensure the word continues to be free to use. No offence or overt censorship was intended and we look forward to launching our storage range shortly.
In summary Gratnells will not defend or continue with this trademark, allowing free use of this term.
