Rackline supported the University of Sheffield to renovate it’s Zooarchaeology, Archeobotany and Human Osteology labs to better serve its students and securely store specimens, equipment, and archives, ensuring easy access and optimal environmental conditions.

Having previously worked with Rackline on other campus projects, the University’s team partnered with them again to design a custom storage solution. The goal was to accommodate a wide variety of storage needs, from boxed specimens and delicate microscopes to books, files, and archive materials, all within limited lab space.

Rackline presented a combination of static and mobile storage systems using their robust Prospan shelving mounted on space-saving Monotrak mobile bases. The designs were tailored to each lab area, including specially adapted shelving with colour-coded Gratnells trays, secure units for sensitive equipment, and deep shelving for documents and reference materials.

The result is a set of highly efficient, flexible storage systems that maximise available space while maintaining easy access. The labs now support both current and future demands, providing an organised, secure environment that enhances learning and research across departments.

Rackline supported The University of Sheffield with storage provision for all their needs.
