Plan your space

Best practices

By following best practices in acoustics, lighting, furniture selection, and science area planning, you can create a safe, comfortable, and engaging learning environment for students.

Acoustics

The relationship between sound and learning spaces is not only about decibels but about how we feel in the space – What kind of atmosphere do we want regarding classroom management and behaviour?

Lighting

The ability to obtain maximum daylight in the room is important both mentally and physically. Pupils respond well behaviourally to daylight, and to being able to see outside.

Seating

The furniture helps transform a space, gives it personality and a sense of belonging for the students. The flexibility, layout and mobility of furniture and storage is key when designing a learning space and should be carefully considered.

Tables

Adhering to Health and Safety rules is always paramount, particularly in the school environment. When designing a learning area, consider the space and layout with regards to health and safety regulations, as well as paying attention to lighting, ventilation, storage and inclusion of protective clothing and resources.
